Marco Silva bemoaned a lack of midfield options after Fulham failed to replace Andreas Pereira on the final day of the transfer window.
Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Leeds United at Craven Cottage, the Portuguese head coach told his pre-match press conference:
“The reality is that we did not add one midfielder, which means that we are short in that area of the pitch. Now is the moment for us to cross our fingers (there is) nothing in terms of injuries in that area of the pitch. If not, we are going to find another type of solution.
“What I want to tell you now, again, has been a bit of our story. The last three seasons before this one, we were the team in the Premier League that spent less. In terms of net spending, we were really near the bottom. This season we were really the bottom of the teams that spend money in the Premier League. It’s been our story and I’m here really to take the best of the players that we have, to make them better, to make the club to progress and to grow and to be very competitive in every match in the Premier League.”

Silva is right !!
Time to drop this moan we know , feel he was leaving end of season what ever happens, he’s not got abad squad, if it wasn’t for poor cheating officiating would of had a good start. Every manager wants more .
I’d have been happier had we signed one winger and a CM, rather than two wingers. I have a feeling that it might bite us in the aris.
A long term injury to either Sasa or Sander and I’d be worried.
However, we’ve got what we’ve got and we have some good and some very promising players in other positions.
I just hope we can pad out the squad with a couple of decent loans at CM in January, so there’s at least a little chance rotate the central pair out and rest them.

No replacement for Pereira ? all those hopeless free kicks and corners my Grannie could do a better job and she has been dead for years. COYW
It’s not numbers it’s quality we lack. Silva needs to play the deck he has, it’s his choice to stay or go at the end of the season.
King has replaced Periera, an upgrade in my view.
Cairney & Reed, one or other or both should have been replaced. That is likely next summer with or without Silva at the helm.
It would not be so bad with the signings if they had not all been literally last minute ,. They need time to bed in. I have been voicing the need for a holding mid field player since the end of last season
Marco is gone isn’t he…
However, the consensus in this forum seems to be what a great squad we have, how wonderful the owners are and how cost our place in the PL is.
AP gone also seems to delight most of you…after all we have King emerging.
Sorry to say but of course we needed a midfielder…it’s taken Berge and Lilia to replace Palhinha.
…and your explanation of us being in the bottom three is of course due to the nasty VAR…but for that we’d be in the top six.
I am at variance with all you optimists…acquiring new players in good time to assimilate them is followed by all the other clubs.
The owners have no ambition beyond mid table otherwise we would have another midfield player…maybe someone who could press like AP…
We will soon find out in a couple of games time, when Lukic gets his first ban. Then we will see how well vintage Cairney or Reed chasing shadows will do.
I agree with Douglas that Marco will be leaving us shortly-I don’t blame him one bit. Unfortunately you always have to factor in relegations with us, however there was a chance to change that mindset and give Marco some more support and reach for the stars to a degree. Regrettably that looks like that was a missed opportunity from the hierarchy at our club.
I believe Marco will stay until the end of the season. If by a miracle we are in the top half in March then he might consider signing a new contract. You cannot blame him TK promised him the earth and scrapped around on the last day of the window. A lot will depend on how or season looks after the next two home games. One thing for certain we need a holding mid field player at the start of the January transfer window but could it be too late!!
I think Josh King is a natural replacement for Andreas at least from a positional sense. Having Harry, Raul, Sasa and TC to take the spot kicks is an upgrade in my opinion.
Very few Fulham fans are positive it sounds as if they would leave their wife or partner if she or he do not buy the grocery they want, I think bad decisions cost us 5pts but is behind now and I think we have Reed, Cairney and can use Sessegnon in midfield if we have to. COYW.
If you knew MS was on his way, would you have spent all your money this window?
Id love him to stay, but i think there’s a reason he wasn’t “backed”
Marco should stop moaning, we have a very good squad, surely better than Leeds. We have to get the 3 points today, no excuses!
Marco wants to take this club into Europe. Its owners are holding him back. Hes gone at the end of the season for sure and I dont blame him at all.
