Liverpool are looking to pip Manchester United to the signing of Fulham full back Antonee Robinson in January, according to the Sun.

Manchester United are looking for a reliable option to replace the injury-prone Luke Shaw at left back and their interest in the American international has been detailed by Alan Nixon in this morning’s newspaper. Liverpool reportedly see the ex-Everton academy graduate as a rival for Andy Robertson, especially as the former Wigan full back has shone against them for Marco Silva’s side.

Robinson has played more than 150 games for Fulham since moving to Craven Cottage from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2020 for £2m. The adventurous defender has established himself as one of the leading left-backs in the top flight and shone in yesterday’s home win over Newcastle United. The 27 year-old is a first-team regular at Fulham, providing two assists in a strong first month of the season, and will not want to give up regular football in the run-up to the 2026 World Cup, which will be staged in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Robinson only signed a new five-year deal last summer and Fulham will be looking for far more than the £30m to £35m fee quoted in the Sun and the Mail on Sunday today if a bidding war for his services develops.
