Aleksandar Mitrovic is out of Fulham’s fixture with Manchester United on Sunday – and could miss the start of Serbia’s World Cup campaign after an x-ray revealed that he had been playing with two broken bones in his foot.
The talismanic number nine, who has scored nine goals in twelve games for the Whites this season, picked up the injury when he played in Serbia’s Nations’ League fixtures earlier this year but the seriousness of it was only disclosed after more medical tests were carried out this week following his inability to face Manchester City. The details of the striker’s absence were broken in the Serbian press this morning – and could carry implications for the national side’s hopes of getting out of a tough group in Qatar.
Marco Silva will turn to Carlos Vinicius, the Brazilian forward, who let the line at the Etihad Stadium against United on Sunday as Fulham bid to finish strongly before the winter break.
Is he really going to World Cup? Who is paying his wages -FULHAM and who continued to play him when injured Serbia. He is our talisman and should be looked after carefully.COYW
This proves yet again that we need proven Cover in that position which I am sure Marco will Address BDR as filled in before and fair doos he has done Now Vinicius needs to step he’s not on loan we have bought him so it’s not just till the End of the Season we all love Mitro who is already a Legend at this great Club but the pressure is off him let’s hope the breaks mend and he’s ready for the return of the Premiership on Dec26th not really bothered about Serbia Fulham’s his club
Apologies – I’ve amended the bit about Carlos, as Keith has kindly pointed out. The perils of rushing to get something up before your train departs from Paddington!
There’s no way he should be going to the World Cup. That’s ridiculous. That needs to heal up properly.
Vinicius needs to show the quality he had, when he was in Benfica and was the top Scorer in Portugal… Where is that player now?? definitely not in Manchester last weekend….
Why didn’t our medical team X-ray Mitro after his injury when he came back from Serbia duty,I think it needs to be looked into, it makes us look like a Mickey Mouse out fit ffs .
It’s all very well Fulham fans saying he shouldn’t go to the world Cup but Mitro is probably desperate to go and he must be given every chance to fulfill his dream. Remember the depressed Mitro after his penalty miss that cost Serbia their place at the euro finals? We don’t want that repeated. I hope he gets over his injury and that he shines in the tournament to show the world what he is. One of the best Centre forwards in the world.
