Fulham have announced the signing of Leeds United winger Dan James on loan for the rest of the season.
The Welsh international, who has made five appearances at Elland Road this term, is desperate for regular first-team football to cement his place in Rob Page’s plans before the winter World Cup in Qatar. James turned down a move to Tottenham earlier on transfer deadline day and has picked Craven Cottage to reignite his career after positive talks with Fulham head coach Marco Silva.
The 27 year-old has scored four goals in forty appearances for Leeds since signing from Manchester United for £25m. James, who was part of the United side that reached the Europa League final in 2021, initially came through the Swansea youth set up and scored six goals in 39 games for the senior side before joining United for £15m in 2019.
James told the club’s official website:
“I’m looking forward to it. I’ve spoken to the gaffer and it feels like a great fit for me, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Another very interesting signing!!! But I think we are missing a number 8. Reed and Palhinha could do the trick for DMF but both are playing at the same time. But they will be booked many times and in a few games, one of them will be out. So it we had a CMF number 8 type of player we would have more options for those two places in the middle of the park…
You have a good player in James. Fast and gives 100%. Unfortunately he was forced to be played out of position for us. He isn’t a centre forward but if he gets the chance to play where he plays best then he should be a great asset for you. Shame it never worked out for him at ER but I am sure I speak for lots of Leeds fans when we say good luck James
James appears to fit the fast break out, high energy play that we have adopted following promotion either as starter or off the bench he will have an impact. Not sure I’d have gone with Willian but definitely adds to bench as do probably all the other acquisitions.
The missing piece seems to be cover for Palhinha and Reed, one or other will be injured and/or pick up sufficient yellows to be suspended. Not confident in the current cover, quality and depth.
Finally, a continual irritant, the annual scramble at the end of the transfer window, WHY????

CM is a concern as others state. playing 3x players with just 5x in the squad is a concern. Especially when one is Chalobah. He’s nearly half way to matching his appearance count from the whole of last season.
Got to think we are looking into Barkley, but I wonder about another free agent Xeka. Portuguese CM played 19+4 in Ligue 1 and another 5+3 in Champions League for Lille. Concerns about work permit from Ligue 1 appearances though…
Good window tbf. Agree with previous comments about CM being bit light. What free agents are out there other than Barkley? Also feel CB doesn’t have great depth, what about Denayer on a free transfer??
