Fulham midfielder Fabio Carvalho scored his first goal for Portugal’s under 21s and laid on another as Rui Jorge’s side took control of their European Championship qualifying group with a 3-0 win in Greece last night.

Carvalho, who made his debut for the land of his birth in a 1-1 draw with Iceland on Friday night, opened the scoring after twelve minutes with a lovely low right-footed finish into the bottom corner after breaking into the box. The 19 year-old then played a sublime pass through for Wolves striker Fabio Silva to make it 3-0 before half time.

Carvalho told the Portuguese press afterwards:

“The goal was good, but the most important thing is the victory. I said before the game that we were going to give a good answer and that was it. We left satisfied, but we know that we have to improve and we have to play much better. I’m enjoying myself a lot, having fun and showing on the pitch that I love the shirt and I want to be here.”
