Sad news reaching us via the Argus in Brighton that Ken Craggs has passed away.
Craggs was youth team coach and manager at Craven Cottage during the 1970s and brought a number of leading talents into the Fulham first team including Rob Wilson, Tony Gale, Dean Coney, Paul Parker, Jeff Hopkins, Jim Stannard, Peter Scott and John Marshall – to name only a few.
He had a brief spell in charge of Charlton Athletic in 1982, famously signing Allan Simonsen, who scored ten goals in sixteen games, and was sacked merely hours after being assured that his job was safe. He was probably most famous for being Allan Mullery’s assistant at Brighton and Hove Albion, helping the Seagulls climb from the Third Division to the top flight in the space of three seasons.
Craggs returned to Brighton as a scout and also scouted for Manchester City and Hull City.
