Fulham forward Moussa Dembele is having a medical at Tottenham this morning ahead of a proposed £6m transfer, according to the Guardian.

The French striker is likely to remain available to Slavisa Jokanovic, however, as Fulham want the youngster to be loaned back to Craven Cottage for the remainder of the season as they strive to stay in the Championship. Spurs had wanted Dembele to be available immediately as back up to Harry Kane but Fulham have played hardball in the negotiations, eager not to reduce Jokanovic’s attacking arsenal at a pivotal point in the club’s season.

Fulham are not willing to lose one of their most potent goal threats when they will be unable to replace Dembele with a permanent signing under the terms of their Football League embargo for breaching financial fair play rules. The teenager has scored eleven goals for the Whites this season and the situation is complicated by the fact that his contract expires at the end of the summer – leaving Fulham liable to receive the merest of development fees possibly set by a tribunal should he opted to move on in the summer.
