Fulham plan to extend James Husband’s loan into a third month – even though original left-back choice Luke Garbutt is back to full fitness.

The Everton loanee suffered ankle ligament damage in pre-season that prompted Fulham to bring Husband back to Craven Cottage after a successful loan move last season.

Both featured in yesterday’s 2-2 draw with Charlton, with Everton loanee Garbutt pushed up the left flank as a swap for Ben Pringle on the hour.

Whites boss Kit Symons is looking to bring in new faces during the international break, but is happy to use up two of his loan options on Garbutt and Husband, whose current deal is up on October 24.

He said: “James is a really important part of our squad, and I’ll pick the best team for each game. I don’t like too many changes unless they’re enforced on you.

“Yeah (we’ll look to extend his loan). James is a very good player and when each loan period comes to an end we’ll review it and go from there. But he’s done well and what I want to do is a get an element of strength in depth.”
