Fulham have been drawn against Sheffield United in the second round of the Capital One Cup tonight.

The match, to be played at Craven Cottage in the week commencing Monday 24 August, will be a repeat of the Blades’ famous FA Cup replay win in February 2014. The Whites won through to the second round on Tuesday night after a narrow victory at League Two Wycombe Wanderers thanks to Alex Kacaniklic’s second half winner.

Sheffield United, now managed by the former Southampton boss Nigel Adkins, are one of the favourites to win promotion from League One this season but were hammered 4-0 at Gillingham on the opening day of the season. They reached this stage with a 1-0 win at Morecambe thanks to a ninetieth minute winner from substitute Neil Collins.
