As Fulham fans we have gotten used to poor Premier League starts but the start we have witnessed in the past week is certainly not poor! The boys are obviously coming round to Jol football philosophy of pass and move and this has been proved during pre-season and has thankfully carried into the new season. The performance against Norwichat home was just brilliant and the boys in yellow could just not keep up with our slick passing and one-touch football. I have also been very impressed with our new signings. Reither looks to be a tidy player-solid in the tackle and willing to get forward. Petric just looks like he wants to score goals and I can honestly say that I am more excited about him than any other Fulham striker ever! Rodallega looks fast and strong and showed that he is a tricky player to defend against by winning a penalty againstNorwich.

Having a field day against Norwich at home is one thing, but really making an excellent Manchester United side sweat at Old Trafford is another! At 3-1 down, a friend of mine said, “You just made them angry. Scoring early at Old Trafford isn’t a good thing!” and I have to say I sort of feared for what was to come in the second half! But Fulham showed that they are going to be very difficult to beat this year and they really should have come away with a point yesterday. Dembele was outstanding and the first thing we have to do to ensure a successful season is to make sure he is still wearing a Fulham shirt on Saturday morning! Ruiz is like a new signing as his performances so far this season have been like a breath of fresh air. Don’t be surprised if one or two new players appear in the final days of transfer window as Jol still has a bit of money to spend.

OK, Dempsey might leave us. But if his heart isn’t in it, it might actually be better if we let him go! He has served us well over the past few years but eventually it has to come to an end. I’ll be sad to see him go but we don’t need another changing room trouble maker (yes I am speaking to YOU, Bobby Zamora!)

We have West Ham next and it is this sort of game that we need to be winning and it might just give us more of an idea about what way our season might go. We generally do play well against the big teams (although not necessarily coming away with anything) but playing away against teams like West Ham has often been our downfall.

I’m becoming more and more optimistic about this season so let’s all just sit back and enjoy the show!
