Chris Baird has signed a new three-year contract with Fulham.
The Northern Ireland international might have endured a difficult start to his Fulham career but his tenacity, versatility and unstinting loyalty make him a key member of the current squad. Baird’s whole-hearted performances, including a superb spell in midfield last season, made him a regular last year and, if John Pantsil’s iffy spell continues, you fancy that Mark Hughes will be calling on him to take over at right back more often. He certainly made a big difference when introduced as a half-time substitute against Wolves at the weekend.
