Brede Hangeland was disappointed that Fulham only drew with Roma last night – after leading for so much of the game.
The Norwegian centre back headed the Whites in front in their Europa League clash at Craven Cottage but Roma grabbed a late equaliser in the third minute of stoppage time scored by Marco Andreolli.
During the second half they created a few chances and maybe deserved a goal. But with 15 seconds left and the lead, you would hope you get three points – so we are really disappointed to concede a goal at the end.
I think we played well in the first half… I think the boys did really well, and we came close to beating a top-class team.
It’s nice to see Hangeland reflecting the views of the fans. That’s likely to be one of the only times I get to see Fulham play Roma (unfortunately I can’t go to the away match) and we were robbed. 30 minutes of great play followed by and hour and 2 minutes of stoic defence ended by 1 minute of depressingly tragic occurance. Admittedly Roma did out-play us for most of the game but I think everyone will agree that Hangeland and co deserve a round of applause for such a great performance and to those who say they made some bad mistakes I say who wouldn’t make a few mistakes against a top class side.
You see Dan, I didn’t see Roma outplaying us for most of the game at all. We were by far the better side in the first half and, but for a bit more luck in front of goal, could have been a couple of goals up at half time. Roma were much improved in the second half but we still had chances on the break, particularly when Kamara went clean through. Zamora posed them all sorts of problems and, though Roma really pushed us back when he went off, I don’t remember Schwarzer having to make a save – bar the penalty.
