Our reward for coming through that absorbing fourth round tie at Kettering on Saturday is a trip to Championship Swansea City in the fifth round.
Swansea are going well in the Championship under impressive manager Roberto Martinez having been prompoted from League 1 last year. They achieved the result of the round – with a shock 2-0 victory over the holders Portsmouth at Fratton Park, a result that was fully deserved.
The tie should reunite us with our former traineee Darren Prately, who has been impressive in the Swansea midfield. This one certainly won’t be easy. Perhaps we might even get on the telly.
The full draw is as follows:
Sheffield United v Hull City
Watford v Chelsea
West Ham United v Middlesbrough
Sunderland or Blackburn Rovers v Covenrtry City
Derby County or Nottingham Forest v Manchester United
Swansea City v Fulham
Liverpool or Everton v Doncaster Rovers or Aston Villa
Cardiff City or Arsenal v West Bromwich Albion or Burnley
(Ties to be played on February 14-15)
It won’t be easy, but we’ve already proved we can beat a Championship side on the road (Wednesday). I’d still much rather draw Swansea at this point rather than a premiership side.
A win would be great, but I would settle for a draw & Cottage replay.
I’m happy with that draw. Should be another great day out with a large Fulham away following again.
Not belittling Swansea but it could have been worse with a number of the big sides still to be drawn when we came out of the hat.
Don’t think it will be straightforward either – Swansea are a good footballing side and are flying under Martinez.
