The Redknapp era means there’s no place at the Lane for Paul Stalteri, who spent the tailend of last season on loan with us.
During the summer, it was almost expected that Roy would bid for the Canadian full-back especially as he seemed happy to let Moritz Volz win the club. Looking back now, it seems that our manager has done very well to bring in John Pantsil and Frederik Stoor to boost our options at right back. Having said that, Stalteri was very solid and played a crucial part in the ‘Great Escape’.
He made thirteen appearances for the Whites last season and was a reassuring figure at right back after the likes of Chris Baird had succeeded in giving us a few jittery moments throughout a thoroughly exciting season (albeit exciting for all the wrong reasons). He hasn’t made an appearance for Tottenham since his loan with us expired in the summer, but I hope he gets a nice offer either from a club over here or on the Continent because this whole-hearted performer deserves it.
He’s signed for Borussia Monchengladbach. Full story here:
