Blackburn boss Paul Ince is making a shock move for Fulham left-back Paul Konchesky as he prepares to fight to keep new England cap Steven Warnock.
Ince wants to push through a £2million deal for former West Ham and Charlton star Konchesky.
The Rovers chief had planned for Konchesky, 27, to compete for a place in the team – but he could turn out to be a straight replacement for Warnock if Newcastle offer enough cash.
In a blow for the Ince regime Warnock, 26, wants away, but Rovers may tell him to stay – although Konchesky would provide a safety net if Toon come in with £5m.
Konchesky was a target for Blackburn under former boss Mark Hughes before he captured Warnock from Liverpool, 18 months ago.
