Lawrie Sanchez has ended Vincenzo Montella’s loan spell at Fulham a week early, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

The Italian forward – drafted in to provide goals by Chris Coleman in January – has already returned to Roma after Sanchez questioned his attitude in training. Montella, who scored five times for Fulham, was sidelined by the new manager, who had concerns over his fitness, and Sanchez sent him back to Italy after the Whites secured their top flight status with a win over Liverpool last weekend.

The Northern Ireland manager, who is set to be appointed on a permanent basis after keeping Fulham up, is already planning a summer cull of his squad. The Mail claims that Philippe Christanval is set to leave having disappointed Sanchez in the defeat at Arsenal and suggests that Zat Knight could also be vulnerable.
