Moritz Volz has turned down Fulham’s offer of a new contract and told the club he wants to leave at the end of next season.
The German full back, a regular in the first team since impressing when he initially signed on loan from Arsenal in the summer of 2003, has grown frustrated at a lack of first-team football at Craven Cottage after the emergence of Liam Rosenior and is ready to explore new opportunities.
Volz would be open to a move back to his homeland to play in the Bundesliga and further his chances of breaking into the senior German national side. He is understood to have been disappointed with Fulham’s financial package and the Premier League club will now have to consider whether to sell him over the summer or let him leave for nothing when his current deal expires at the end of the forthcoming campaign.
