Fulham striker Collins John says he is dreaming of travelling to the World Cup with Marco van Basten’s Holland squad.

The exciting youngster has already earned two caps for the Oranje and has started the current campaign in impressive form, grabbing three goals from five Premiership appearances.

Further progression could grant him added openings under former Milan hero van Basten, although Holland currently boast a wealth of striking talent at their disposal.

As well as established figures such as Roy Makaay and Ruud van Nistelrooy, van Basten has been keen to introduce Feyenoord hot-shot Dirk Kuyt and gifted youngsters in the shape of Arsenal’s Robin van Persie and Ajax’s Ryan Babel.

Despite the strong competition for places, Liberian-born John is desperate to play for his adopted country in the finals in Germany next summer.

“I have already got two caps,” said John.

“It would be a dream to play in the World Cup for the country that has helped me and my family.”
