Fulham boss Chris Coleman is close to signing a new three-year contract.

Coleman is ready to commit his future to the Cottagers as soon as assistant Steve Kean has finalised the terms of his new deal.

“It’s nearly all been completed for me – we’re just days away from concluding everything,” he said.

“All we have to do now is wait for Keano to sit down with the powers that be and agree his side of things. Once he’s happy I’m happy and we’ll sign.”

Coleman was handed a one-year rolling deal last summer and has guided the Cottagers to 10th in the Premiership.

The Cottagers were widely expected to struggle this season after appointing Coleman when Jean Tigana left the club.

However, they are in the hunt for a Uefa Cup spot going into the final games of the season.

The news is not so good for midfielder Lee Clark, who has been ruled out for the last four games of the season after undergoing surgery on his troublesome calf problem.

Clark took a kick to the Achilles against Manchester United at the start of March and the injury has continued to flare up ever since.

Coleman added: “Lee will miss our remaining games and we aim to have him back in time for pre-season.

“It’s very disappointing because we’re going to miss him. He’s played well and led the team well this season.

“At least now we know what the problem is – he kept breaking down in training which was worrying. But we’ve dealt with it and he could be back as early as six weeks time.”
