Chris Coleman was delighted with the way Fulham fought back to draw the SW6 derby – and insisted his side could have easily taken all three points.
The caretaker manager was frustrated that Chelsea’s goal, initially given as an own goal by Alain Goma, was allowed to stand after it was punched into the net by John Terry but felt the Whites fully deserved a share of spoils after Luis Boa More’s brilliant second half equaliser.
“We are still in a relegation dogfight but if I can keep Fulham in the Premiership I’ll be looking for a big fat pay cheque from the chairman! We definitely deserved a point and could have nicked all three.
It was disappointing to concede from a set piece but we did not sit back and hide, we worked really hard and kept pushing them. Luis has great ability and his finish was superb. He is better when he doesn’t have too much time to think about what he is doing. He has a sore ankle but he wanted to play and ended up working so hard for us.
If we had not drawn we would have had more to say about the handball in their goal but, on the day, we deserved a point. I am proud of my boys because they have responded to me since I have been in the job and they have made it easy for me. I am loving every minute and not feeling any stress but then I have been doing it for only two minutes, so maybe ask me in five years, if I am still in management.”
