Fulham midfielder Lee Clark has revealed he could commit his future to the Cottagers before the Premiership new boys kick off the season against Manchester United.

Speaking after a dour draw with Sparta Prague at Woking, Clark lashed out at press speculation that has continually linked him with a move away from Fulham:

“Talks have been going on and lasting a time. They’ve been going very well and hopefully in the near future – maybe before the start of the season – we can get something sorted out. When I first came here I signed a four-year contract and I am entering my third year of that contract. “I cannot stop what’s going in the papers when I’m on a ride at Disneyland in Paris. It’s not something I can do anything about. “If people want to write that, so be it – but it never came from me or anyone connected with me.”

The former Newcastle and Sunderland midfielder said that, because he is enjoying playing for Fulham so much, he is content to leave the contract negotiations to his representatives as the Whites prepare for their return to the top flight.

“It’s something I can just put on the backburner. I’m concentrating in doing well for the football club in an important Premiership season. I’m focusing on the last few weeks of pre-season, getting good results, before the big kick-off on August 19.”
