Life after David Ginola looked bleak for Tottenham as they could only muster a 0-0 draw with Fulham.

Spurs had expensive summer acquisitions Sergei Rebrov, Ben Thatcher and Neil Sullivan on show and welcomed back several million pounds worth of talent in the shape of Darren Anderton and Les Ferdinand.

But as they tried to overcome their lack of French flair, Tottenham fans were forced to watch Jean Tigana’s Division One outfit dominate this testimonial for Simon Morgan.

Ginola finally left White Hart Lane this week completing his £3m move to Aston Villa.

Fulham fans enjoyed taunting their London rivals about their lost winger and revelled in a well-balanced display from Tigana’s team.

Kevin Keegan – the man responsible for bringing Ginola to England – was back at Craven Cottage to support Morgan’s big night.

But the Fulham defender, who has scored 58 goals in 421 games in his 10 seasons at Craven Cottage, could not play in his testimonial because of injury.

The England boss saw Sol Campbell endure an uneasy time against the pace and mobility of Luis Boa Morte and Kevin Betsy, and saw referee Graham Poll request the substitution of Tim Sherwood shortly after the break.

More positively for Keegan and Spurs, Darren Anderton looked in all-action mood.

Boa Morte and Betsy both hit the woodwork and Anderton chased back superbly to thwart Betsy as he shaped to shoot.

New keeper Sullivan impressed and made a crucial save when he dashed off his line to block a Boa Morte effort.
