Fulham have made another approach for Arsenal centre back Calum Chambers, according to Sky Sports.

The 23 year-old defender has been a longstanding Craven Cottage target and the Whites tried to sign Chambers last summer. Fulham hope that the England international might consider either a loan or a permanent move now that Slavisa Jokanovic’s side are a Premier League side again – following their Championship play-off final win over Aston Villa.

The former Southampton defender is waiting for word from new Arsenal boss Unai Emery on his Gunners future, having made 24 appearances under Arsene Wenger last term. He remains under contract at the Emirates for a further two years after signing a new deal last year and played 83 first-team games for Arsenal since signing from Southampton in 2018.

Fulham are eager to add defensive reinforcements as they plan their return to the top flight. Chambers’ versatility – he can play either in the centre of defence or at right back – as well as his ball-playing ability should suit Slavisa Jokanovic’s possession-based approach, although the Whites are reportedly close to concluding a deal to turn Tomas Kalas’ long-term loan at Craven Cottage into a permanent deal.
