Fulham have not received any offers for captain Tom Cairney – and would not entertain his departure in any case, according to Get West London this afternoon.

The Scottish midfielder stressed in the new year that he was happy at Craven Cottage, having signed a contract extension until 2021 in the summer, and despite suggestions from the Guardian’s deputy football editor that West Brom had seen a £15m bid rejected, Fulham are adamant that no offers have been tabled for their classy playmaker.

Cairney trained fully with the first team at Motspur Park this morning having come off the bench to play half an hour on his 27th birthday as the Whites beat Burton Albion 6-0. The former Blackburn midfielder has seen his 2017/18 season badly disrupted by a recurring knee problem but, as long as he comes through training with no ill-effects from, Cairney could be line to return to the starting line up for Fulham’s trip to Barnsley on Saturday.
