Fulham midfielder Tayo Edun has been training with the England senior squad this morning at St. George’s Park.

Edun, who was part of the England under 19 side that won the European Championship in Georgia in July alongside Ryan Sessegnon, is currently at the national football centre in Burton as a member of the England under 20 squad that will travel to Germany for a friendly next Tuesday. The Fulham teenager, who shot to prominence during the summer tournament as a defensively-minded midfielder, was invited by Gareth Southgate to join the senior’s squad practice for tomorrow’s friendly against Joachim Löw’s men after the likes of Harry Winks and Dele Ali withdrew from the senior squad through injury.

Edun, who signed a three year contract at Fulham in the summer, has long been highly thought of both at Motspur Park and in the national age-group set-up. He has been one of the academy graduates who Slavisa Jokanovic has promoted to train with the first-team squad regularly, although his only senior appearance this year came at left back in the League Cup defeat by Bristol Rovers. Edun joined Chelsea full-back Jay DaSilva in stepping up to the senior training sessions and, despite the clear evidence that an England squad needs a Fulham player if it is to win a major championship, Southgate decided against keeping the eager youngster in his plans for tomorrow’s Wembley prestige meeting with the world champions.
