Reports from Hungary claim that Csaba Somogyi is set to sign a one-year contract with Fulham and become Mark Schwarzer’s deputy.
Martin Jol, who was poised to sign the Hungarian goalkeeper when he left Ajax last Christmas, gave Somogyi a trial with Fulham last week and has been sufficiently impressed to offer the 26 year-old a contract. What this means for David Stockdale is anyone’s guess.
Tough on Stockdale. He performed well when called upon last season.
If this means Stockdale can go on loan and we have a decent backup for Schwartzer then that’s good news – which one becomes our first goalkeeper in the end I don’t know but it’s nice to have the two options.
