Great Post. I think this was a great move for Fulham. Yes Martin Jol might have been better, and I had initially favored Sven, (Hitzfeld would never move to anything but the very top clubs in Europe), but after reviewing his profile on wikipedia and reading this post and considering the city-ex-player-loan-angle I realized he could prove to be an excellent choice. His record with Wales, Blackburn and City was very good. His sacking at City after only losing once was truly ridiculous.
His moves in the transfer market were pretty good; at Blackburn he made some very good buys; and at city he bought wisely as well; considering the amount of money he had to spend and players he bought, he only really made 2 bad buys in Lescott, and the 18 Million pent on Jo (also Tal ben Haim is crap).
I think Ireland would be the best player we could hope for from City, as I really felt that we need replacement/back up for Murphy from a creative center midfielder.
I think James would make a rubbish replacement for Scwarzer, so I hope that does not happen. Also, would be sad to see Konch leave. He has been an absolute rock for us since he's been with us!!

I agree with the suggestion that Cruz and Bellamy if they do come will likely be loan signings with City picking up some (most) of their wages, but that will probably happen no matter where anyone from City will end up. Still have the sneaky feeling that Bellamy will be going to Spurs, but it's probably 80% likely that Cruz will be coming to the Cottage.
A couple of sneaky City loan signings and a couple of other proper signings and I reckon we'll be sorted. The delay in appointing Hughes may have mean Fulham missed out on grabbing Petrov on a free, but there hasn't exactly been a lot of transfer activity in the league as of yet, so at least the club isn't lagging too far behind its peers.

29 days and all we got was this manager. After such a wait frankly nobody was going to make us sit up. 28 Days ago when Hughes was first mentioned as a possible we all said Hurrah. Now we just hope that this the final day of waiting. Good luck if true and a manager we can all be happy with. Just a shame we tried to reach for the stars. When Wales was there all the time.
