Viking confirm Nevland switch

Viking Stavanger have confirmed that Erik Nevland will join them from Fulham on a free transfer this summer.

The veteran forward is a legend at his hometown club and has signed a two-year deal with Viking.

According to Eirik in the comments, Viking were hopeful of swooping for Fredrik Stoor as well but Roy Hodgson turned down their offer.

UPDATE: Aftenbladet says it was actually Stoor who snubbed the chance to move to Viking. Thanks to Eirik once again.

Update: Its not Hodgson that has turned down the offer, its Stoor himself. This comes for the local paper in the area around Stavanger, Aftenbladet. Some reports are saying that Viking might higher their offer to get him ready for the start of the league next weekend.

Nick: That’s just the way these automated translation things work. I don’t speak much Norwegian but they were Aftenbladet were just commenting on Nevland’s decision to move once his contract expires.

As for playing at the moment, he’s still struggling with his toe – but it’ll be interesting to see if he makes the bench on Thursday.
