Fulham chasing McCarthy

by Dan on December 20, 2009

The News of the Screws has Fulham ready to offer Benni McCarthy a way out of Ewood Park as Blackburn near a £10m deal for Getafe’s Roberto Soldado.

If the Spanish forward signs for Sam Allardyce, the South African international is expected to move on and the paper makes us favourites to win the race for his signature. McCarthy has started too many first team games for Rovers this term, with Allardyce preferring Chelsea loanee Franco di Santo up front.

While all this talk of new strikers might seem harsh on Bobby Zamora, upgrades will offer greater competition for places, only serving to push up his performance levels even higher. Should he come to the Cottage, McCarthy would have good reason to impress, with the South African World Cup this summer in mind.
