Lest we forget

by Dan on November 8, 2009

This being Remembrance Sunday, I thought I’d just write a brief message in remembrance of those who have laid down their lives for our others through two World Wars, the Falklands’ War, the Gulf War, in Iraq and Afghanistan and many other conflicts.

Too often in sport the word hero is bandied around to describe the latest overpaid egocentric figure who might have scored a goal or realised some seemingly great achievement. The armed forces are our real heroes. We should never forget that.

Did Fulham wear poppies on their shirts today? The Mail was banging on about the fact only Liverpool & Man Utd hadn’t agreed to do so but I noticed Burnley’s shirts didn’t have a noticeable poppie addition and wondered if we had added one or not.

We did – at the top in the centre of our shirts between the kit sponsor and the badge. Don’t think they showed up brilliantly on our away shirts though.

Yeah just saw it on MOTD2. Glad we did despite the Mail.
