Remember Adam Johnson? He was apparently the subject of some serious interest from Real Madrid. Well, the papers have been quick to link us to the left winger in the past and it looks as if the transfer merry-go-round is about to spring into action again.
Only I’m not sure there’s too much in this. Fulham look fairly well covered in the midfield positions and I doubt Johnson would want to move to us if they were bigger clubs interest. This all presupposes that Middlesbrough would be inclined to sell rather than keep one of their brightest prospects to boost their promotion push. I doubt Gordon Strachan would have taken the job if transfer funds were dependent on him selling Boro’s best players.
Chalk this one up as a ‘we can dream’ I think.

You never know your luck. As a Boro fan I’d hate to see Jinky go, but I have a feeling he’ll be off, basically as we haven’t looked like a sure fire promotion contender so far. I suspect Strachan knows this – one of those instances where the damage was already done before he arrived.
I’d rather he went to Fulham that Sunlun, for obvious reasons, but the lad’s a Mackem and that could make the final difference.
Is Johnson really that certain to be out the door? He’d be a natural left footer and a real prospect, but would he displace Duff or Dempsey? He’s certainly got bags of potential and I’m surprised Capello hasn’t been taking a closer look at him given how unbalanced England teams have looked over recent years.
If im honest I think he would be a good prospect but I like the rumour about John Arne Riise better. The one problem is that we have alot of ‘old’ midfielders so bringing Johnson in would be a real boost to Fulham for 3-4 years time.
Thing is if Johnson kicks on as people expect him to then we won’t be able to afford him in 3-4 years time. We may be priced out now. It would be a shame – we could be going for a team of Johnson’s at this rate!
While Riise can play in midfield, I’d prefer him to give Konchesky a run for his money.
Why shouldn’t Johnson leave? If he’s only getting games after ‘Boro went down, he has nothing to thank them for. Then again, he never was good enough in the Premiership, and fell over his own feet more often than not.
I think that’s a bit harsh on Johnson Don. He was much more impressive than Downing on a number of times that I watched him.
